I am at Wordpress now! I want to leave this blog up, as it records a very special and indeed hard time in my life. It is sorta like the old diary you stop writing in, just because it doesn't feel right. Ya know?

I'd love to hear from all my blogging mama friends!! I have missed so much! I forgot to update my email address with Xanga, so I haven't been notified of anything. I hope you are all doing well.

Namaste!
-a.

(The old posts have been made private, for me to visit from time to time. They record the death of my mother, my pregnancy, and then the death of my sister. These times were inexplicably complex and trying for me. Thank you again for sharing in the journey)

Monday, October 17, 2005

Okay, so here is a little previow of the stuff I got sewn! Lots of tiny diapers, and some for Lillianna, too... but her's are all in the pail now. Tiny diapers:

Here are my favorite ones so far...

As you can see, I am addicted to dyeing fabrics... not just yarn! White and solid are just so boring!

I also made her this little dress today for Halloween. She really likes it! I'll post pics of her happy dances in a protected post next....

close up of the appliqued pumpkin pocket, and my "outside" label:

I don't usually make dresses this shape, they're normally more spinny... but I only had this much of the Hello Kitty fabric. Eh well!

Friday, October 07, 2005

*I have removed my poor post. No need to publicly whine so much.*

Monday, August 22, 2005

I kinda forgot to update that work in progress pic, huh?? Well... here's the front:

and here's the back:

And remember what I was saying about not being able to get a true representation of this particular colorway? Well, look what I mean... THIS is the tiny little picture I could get it accurate:

Crazy, no!? So, now it is certain that I love this Fern & Faerie soaker pattern! I also got the Little Turtle Knits felted mocs pattern, since Miz T will be publishing it in a book soon! I finally have a particular use for all that Peace Fleece I have!

Speaking of! The latest order of Peace Fleece landed this evening, and it is the SOFTEST batch I've felt yet... all the colors!! I'm so excited! I also got that pound of Corriedale handspun. It's like spun clouds! I think I will dye some up and reserve it for newborn/tiny babe use as I'm sure it wouldn't fare well against the LilliBug. So... what've you been doing???

I'm having the HARDEST time getting colors accurate?! Some days, they're perfect, other days... well... At least you can see the maroon color there... and THAT is why this is not my "Twilight" at all. I love love love the blues/purples... just didn't intend on the red screaming out like that! This is on Bartlett's yarn, knitted on size 6 needles. I must be weird, but I like to knit things on smaller needles for Lillianna. I think it makes a better suited fabric for overnights and well, toddler floods. I'm really liking this F&F pattern, too. The other soaker pattern I used seems too boxy for me, but maybe that's something I did wrong?? I dunno.

I can't believe I only learned how to cast on and knit not even 2 months ago! woohoo! I'll be ready to do some sweaters and other things besides diapering stuff when I'm finished up making L some more, and the tiny one (two?!?) some covers and pants, too.

More later... off to knit some more! Be well!

Thursday, August 18, 2005

THE REPLACEMENTS DYES CAME!!!

I'm sooo happy! They're all packaged in little baggies, inside larger baggies... no spilling at all! That means I'll be able to dye LOTS more yarn!! Yippeee!! Any types of color requests?? I'm expecting a pound of Corriedale and a pound of bulky handspun SUPA SOFT merino soon... I'll just need to figure out what to dye those 7 skeins... oh wait! I'm getting more Peace Fleece this week, too!! Oh, I'm in yarn dyers heaven!!

The move is coming right along... 2 weeks and counting, and we don't have all that much to pack!! Just some cars to sell... anyone need a van or a car!??!?!

I'm currently knitting up my first Fern and Faerie soaker... I just love the look of it so far! I'm knitting it with a colorway I did the other day that I wasn't pleased with. It was Twilight, but the reddish purple came out too red. I'll show you what I mean soon...

Thanks for visiting!

Monday, August 15, 2005

Here are two of four more...I just couldn't get good colors today, with overcast skies. I'll try the other two tomorrow.

For some reason, I could NOT get the green to show. That isn't really light green, it's avocado. ??

And my favorite, it gets 2 pics... (at least, I think it's my favorite... we'll see...)

Look at this... maybe it's just cause I'm craving this pie soooo bad. But to me, it looks delicious!!!! Anyone wanna send me some tofu pumpkin pie?!?! :D

Back to your normal programming....

Sunday, August 14, 2005

Here they are! The first batch of Autumn 2005's colors! These were so much fun doing... I have 4 more colorways to show... hopefully I'll get 2 more done tonight.

*HaRVeST*

*eVeRGReen*

Oh my list to stitch just keeps growing!! I'm so happy to have colorways I can repeat and invent! White doesn't stand a chance!!

Sunday, August 14, 2005

Here they are!! The newborn (maybe? 8-12 lbs) pants are finished!!! I'm so happy to be done with these!

back:

Yes, that is the kind of DPN I have to deal with!! Can you believe it?! My #8 circs are metal, too! GASP! Don't you feel sorry for me? You should send me some lovely wood DPNs and bamboo #8 circs. Now I can start on hats for my sister. I hope to be finished up with a few by next week. The merino I got from Uruguay is just itchin' for some stitchin'!! I also dyed 2 skeins today... in the Evergreen and Harvest colorway. I'll share those pics tomorrow when I get them all nice and wound. Which means, of course, that I'll be ready to knit that up as well. Can't wait til I'm nesting... should go through a few skeins a week then!! Enjoy your Saturday night, mamas!

Saturday, August 13, 2005

Well, seller contacted me... I'll be getting replacements. I sent her strict guidelines for mailing: band them all together, put all the banded baggies together in 1 larger baggie. We'll see... I'm nervous!

Meanwhile, I am going to try and salvage what I can and dye up some yarn today! woohoo! I only have 1 leg left on my newborn pants, then I'll be starting some chemo caps for my sister. If anyone wants to make one (or a few!) please let me know!! I can send them all to her at the same time. She has long hair now, and has never worn it short, so I want to make some really cute hats for her.

That's all for now... back with colorful pictures later!!

ETA: oo ooo ooo! My package from Uruguay arrived!!! Beeeeeutiful!

Be Well.
